Completion dateJune 10, 2013OK - my third go at a completion date! This time it's for real. I want to be fully done and sailing by this date. That'll be 16 months build time................. And I made it with one day to spare! Not that I was trying - it just worked out that way -kinda funny!

The Rudder
Finally getting to the rudder. I hadn’t even drawn it ’til the other day. I did not get too many pics of the process – I was more into getting it done than taking pics. It’s built with a one … Continue reading

Motorin’
The rowing was a success on the first two outings. So I mounted up my 30 pound thrust trolling motor to give it a try. I’ve had two outings with the motor. It works pretty good. She glides along nice and … Continue reading

It floats!
I finally got her in the water this morning. I’m gonna call it an “unofficial launch”. But I had to see her float and try out the oars. All went well. She rode on the trailer just nice and the … Continue reading

Trunk installed
After a couple of weekends off from serious boat building I got back to some final assembly today. The centerboard trunk is now in for good. I glassed and epoxy/graphite powder coated the insides of the trunk and coated the … Continue reading
Centerboard lead
Set out this morning to find a small, inexpensive second hand cast iron vessel to melt some lead for my centerboard. No luck really finding anything cheap. As a last resort we stopped in a consignment shop and they had a nice little … Continue reading

Just one more thing…
Well, I got the front split /thwart done today. And as I suspected the centerboard trunk is now soild as a rock. I think I’d have to whack it with a sledgehammer to get it to move any – and … Continue reading

Even more trunk action
Lots more hours on the centerboard trunk today. My idea was to run the stringer down the middle of the height of the trunk. (if that makes sense) I drilled the 2″ holes first, then split the thing down the … Continue reading

More junk – on the trunk
I’ve spent all week (couple hours a day) working on the trunk logs. Made each of them from two pieces and epoxied them together. I found it was fairly easy to do this way – just time consuming. Getting the … Continue reading

Centerboard trunk
I got started on the centerboard trunk today. I had the posts made up already. So I cut two pieces of the Sureply roughly oversize. You can see the little marking gauge I made up and used. Marked one side … Continue reading
